Hemp seed oil is a mostly clear oil with a light green hue. It’s extracted from hemp seeds. Hemp is a cannabis plant, but it’s different from Cannabis sativa, the variety that people use to get high. Unlike hemp, Cannabis sativa contains THC, the compound that causes psychoactive effects. At Aussie Blue Terpenes, our hemp seed oils also contain no CBD, another compound occurring in Cannabis sativa, and are safe to consume for people of all ages.
What hemp seed oil does contain is large quantities of omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids, including gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), which has been shown to help reduce inflammation. Hemp seed oil also contains all of the nine essential amino acids—the building blocks your body uses to make protein. The terpenes present in our hemp seed oil include limonene, humulene, camphene, terpinene and BCP (Beta-Caryophyllene).
At Aussie Blue Terpenes, we use Australian cold-pressed hemp seed oil. Local farmers grow premium quality hemp in the Tatiara district near our processing facility. After harvest, we dry, grade and sort the seed. Then the hemp seed is either cold-pressed to become hemp seed oil, or de-hulled into hemp hearts to add in food. We can trace each and every packet and bottle back to the paddock it was grown in.
Hemp seed oil has recently gained in popularity as a remedy for many conditions ranging from skin issues to stress. Though research is ongoing, hemp seed oil may contribute to a reduced risk of Alzheimer’s disease and cardiovascular disease, as well as reducing inflammation and alleviating skin issues.
The terpenes in our hemp seed oil products have been linked to beneficial health outcomes including reduced inflammation, weight loss, antioxidant effects, improved heart health, among others.
Hemp seed oil can reduce symptoms and provide relief for several types of disorders that affect the scalp and hair. Hemp seed oil contains omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, in proportions that are referred to as the “perfect ratio.” Research has indicated that hemp seed oil can help relieve the symptoms of dry skin and itchiness in conditions like eczema. Another study found that hemp seed oil could help in treating acne.
The benefits of hemp seed oil for common hair and scalp conditions are due to the many healthy ingredients found in hemp seed oil, including GLA, vitamin D, vitamin E, carotene, calcium and magnesium, among others.

Hemp oil extract can be taken as a daily supplement to nourish your hair and scalp—and it comes with a range of other ingredients that can be beneficial to your overall well-being. We recommend a dosage of 1–2 mls per day.
Our oils can be taken orally by themselves or incorporated into your diet. For instance, hemp seed oil has a rich and nutty flavour that makes it a delicious ingredient in hummus, salad dressings, marinades, and sauces.
It’s also possible to apply hemp seed oil directly to the hair and scalp. A small amount distributed through the hair can help to strengthen and moisturise damaged hair. For a dry or oily scalp, hemp seed oil can be applied directly to the scalp overnight and then shampooed clean in the morning.
